After getting multiple quotes on how to solve our home's cooling problems we tried the crew from Gra-Tac. From the beginning they were different because they were driven towards making the house comfortable, not just ramping up the amount of the final bill.

Horrible experience they overcharged me and didn't come back to fix the rest of it not that he fixed anything just cleaned the condensers out, never again!!!

Never use this group again (they are overpriced): he showed up tested the problem (capacitor) and told me the price for capacitor is $130, and for test he will charge me 69. (I showed him the price is $12). If they ask this price for capacitor, imagine how much they charge for something serious. Never use them.

If you having problems I highly recommend talking to one of their comfort advisors.

Both my wife and I are unemployed and we have four children, our HVAC had some trouble this winter and we discovered that our unit is 30 years old, this was not the time for us to make a large expenditure but we had to weigh in the consequences. We called three different HVAC companies and they came out, walked around the house, and came back with a quote. I had done some research and found that it is not as simple as just putting a system in based on the size of your house. This did not make me feel comfortable, that I would be getting the correct system. I was reluctant to call Gra-Tac because I had heard that they were expensive. I actually based my decision to have them quote me a system based on this rumor, just to see how they were different, and if these other guys were “That” much cheaper. I made an appointment with Keith and he showed up when he said he would. He looked at our system, and listened to my concerns. I asked Keith if we needed a three ton system and he told me that he needed to do some work first before he could suggest a specific size system. The next thing he did was to measure each room, not just length and width, but to measure the actual volume of each room, this impressed me, (We even found out our house is a few hundred square feet larger than what the real estate agent said it was) he measured each window and noted their location with relation to the sun. Keith then did a vacuum test to determine how much each room was leaking air – thus determining the efficiency of each room. Keith then came back a few days later with a drawing of our house, and a detailed list of parts he would be using to install the system. Keith offered us three levels of options, but never attempted to up sell us. Gra-Tac was going to be a little more expensive and we discussed this with Keith, and then he suggested we look into the tax incentives that are being offered. We decided to go with Gra-Tac based on their level of attention to detail, and we decided on the lower option system which actually had a better warranty than what other guys offered. A few days later Keith e-mailed me with a web site showing some of the tax incentives, and also suggested we contact the TVA, as it ends up the TVA offered us an additional $500 for installing a system. Great! Now the cost is the same as the other guys. Keith then helped us with all of the paper work for all of the tax incentives and the TVA, all in all we saved $2,500 WOW now Gra-Tac is much cheaper and is offering more options and a better warranty. The crew showed up when they said they would. As an engineer I tend to drive people crazy because I expect more out of the work that is being performed. I hovered over each technician while they were working and I kept saying to my self – wow, they are doing a better job that I would be doing, they are concerned with every detail, not just getting the job done, doing more that I even expected. They completed the job on time and the end price did not deviate from the quote. I was amazed by the quality of the parts used, they did not use cheep ducting, cheep tape or cheep vents, they used the higher end stuff. I am impressed. Now how does it perform? I can not tell you how please my wife and I are, the entire house is balanced, no room is hotter or cooler than the others, we use to have a bath room that we could not keep cool in the summer or hot in the winter, by as much as 30deg difference. Now it is the same as the others. Then next best thing, the electric bill savings. We compared our usage when we first moved in and no children and we were both working and our usage now with 6 people at home and the house is Much more comfortable is Lower that it was prior. This came out to a $145 savings per hot summer months. Yaeee.. Even with out the tax and utility bill savings, I would highly recommend Gra-Tac hands down, don’t bother with any one else, they will do the job right, above your expectations.

Do NOT use these guys they will ROB YOU!!! Don't let them charge you $100 per pound for r22 like they tried to do to my wife! You can buy a R22 drop in refrigerant for $199 for 25 pounds!! Buy you a low side gauge manifold and hoses and a can of stop leak and pump in the refrigerant yourself! That's what I did in my AC works great now!!! Anyone can do HVAC work it's a cake walk. That's why they teach it to people at the tech school! Your granny can even do it!! Do some research online and fix it yourself. Don't let these guys rob you blind!!!!!!! Because they will.

During the work the crew was professional, courteous, and did their best to keep things clean.

Their solution worked, and it was dramatically cheaper than their competitor's options. My utility bills are lower, and the house is comfortable.
